City of Eufaula
The City of Eufaula renovated the McCoo Center, a multipurpose community service facility, with a $250,000 Community Enhancement Grant from ADECA’s Community Development Block Grant Program. The McCoo Center was originally a high school constructed in 1956 and named for Eufaula’s first African-American doctor, Dr. T.V. McCoo. The project included roofing, HVAC and electrical system upgrades. The City of Eufaula contributed $25,515 to the project and pays most of the operating costs as the tenants are non-revenue producing public services and pay no rent. The facility houses the Senior Nutrition Center, Head Start Program, and the Charles Parramore Center for the Mentally Impaired and provides critical public services to approximately 450 persons.
