Morgan County combined $29,337 of its own funds with $100,000 in Economic Development funds from ADECA’s Community Development Block Grant Program to help Terrell Industries, Inc. create 15 new jobs for mentally handicapped individuals in the area. The funds were used for a 5,000 sq. ft. expansion of their existing facility and to purchase a delivery truck and forklift. Terrell Industries, Inc. is a private non-profit sheltered industry located outside the city limits of Hartselle. Terrell has contracts with nine industries to perform packaging, salvaging, and assembly jobs. They now employ 70 mentally handicapped individuals who are paid on a piece rate basis.
