Hydrologic and Related Studies
The Office of Water Resources has developed and is continually refining modeling tools and techniques that support a wide range of hydrological analysis. These capabilities are needed to support the efforts needed to analyze the wide range of proposals that have been submitted as part of the interstate compact negotiation process in both the ACT and ACF River Basin Compacts. Further, these capabilities are being used to support analysis required to evaluate various aspects of basin and critical use studies as well as such activities as the review of proposed reservoir operating plans for Corps of Engineers and TVA projects and the federal relicensing of privately owned reservoir projects.

Most of the hydrologic studies have focused on providing modeling support to the ACT and ACF Allocation Formula negotiations; however, this function is becoming more oriented toward basin planning and other water resources planning tasks. Efforts currently underway include instream flow criteria development, critical use studies, and technical coordination for the development of new water supply sources.
