Agriculture Energy Efficiency Program
The Agriculture Energy Program assists the agriculture industry in reducing energy costs and increasing production by providing education and financial assistance for the implementation of energy efficiency technologies and renewable energy solutions for agriculture. The Agriculture Energy Program Steering Committee composed of members from major agricultural interests in the state provides guidance and assistance in developing programs to meet the energy efficiency needs of the agriculture industry.
The Energy Division issues a Request for Proposal (RFP) every other year to solicit proposals for energy efficiency technology and technique demonstration and renewable energy projects that have the potential to significantly improve the energy efficiency of agricultural operations in the state. The next solicitation will be in Spring 2009. Eligible applicants are state and local government entities, non-profit corporations, and public colleges and universities. Individual grant awards are for a maximum amount of $50,000 each. Most projects are two years in duration.
